Vietnam - Hanoi

An unusual holiday destination, Hanoi is a fascinating place to visit. As you bid goodbye to the Trans-Siberian railway, a trip to Hanoi could be the icing on the cake on the most unique holiday you'll ever have. Although we don't offer a full-service approach to Hanoi, it's a place we can help you get to, by train from Beijing, if you want a holiday where you cross the entire Eurasian landmass by surface transport only!

There is lots to see when you get there, too. Hoan Kiem Lake has what must surely be Asia's most photographed bridge. And for the unadulterated full-on experience of Asian exotica, visit the Old Quarters: part-bazaar, part-bohemian quarter, and packed with colours, tastes, and smells. One taste you might think twice about acquiring is Weasel Coffee. The coffee-beans are, apparently, fed to a weasel, which regurgitates them, adding strength and smoothness to their original taste. Some people prefer just to believe the theory without necessarily trying the end results. The Single-Pillared Pagoda, the Bich Kau Daoist Temple and the House On Stilts are just the start of a huge list of “don't miss” experiences of the more traditional sort. Vietnam is, of course, a Communist country (don't forget - you will need a Visa, which takes a little while to acquire) and those with an interest in current affairs might want to pop along to one of the very few Lenin Museums still left functioning in the world, along with the Mausoleum of Vietnam's very own Communist guru, Ho Chi Minh.

Take the train to Hanoi for an unforgettable journey into a different world. A holiday travelling the Trans-Siberian railway is an un-missable chance to visit other countries while you're 'in the area'!
